Nashville has long been an amazing place to live, work, and thrive. But as our city's reputation has grown, so has the impact from people moving here.

As Nashville grows, its residents have experienced an exponential cost increase and demand in housing, leaving many long-term residents without affordable options. As residents are pushed out of their neighborhoods by rising costs, gentrification, and shifting demographics, Nashville risks losing its neighborhood identity that has made it such a unique city for so long. Edgehill is one of those at-risk neighborhoods.

Edgehill Neighborhood Partnership (and its committed volunteers) are giving their energy to advocate for just housing for all residents, regardless of race, class, and culture in these three distinct areas:

The Promise Zone

Nashville is a federally-designated Promise Zone City. A Promise Zone City designation is a 10-year government partnership with local leaders to increase economic activity, improve educational opportunities, leverage private investment, reduce violent crime, enhance public health, and address other priorities identified by the community. One of those priorities identified by Nashville is housing.

Nashville is broken into six various sub-zones, each tasked with a unique issue. Edgehill Neighborhood Partnership is the sub-zone captain organization for sub-zone 2, which is focused on housing efforts with a goal of increasing access to affordable housing*. For more information on the Promise Zone, visit the Nashville Mayor’s Office website. To be involved in the housing conversations for the Nashville Promise Zone, contact Allison Quintanilla Plattsmier, Executive Director of ENP.

*Affordable Housing is 1/3 or less of the income of households making 60% or less of the Median Household Income (MHI) for Davidson County.
